- Data Sources: Zoning Sub Districts are created by the Boston Zoning Commission and available at the BPDA, together with any amendments. Neighborhood Design Overlay District (NDOD) is also part of the Zoning Code and may be subject to special provisions per the requirements of Article 80E. Land Use by Parcels FY21: data is from the Assessing Department FY2021. Designated Port Areas: promote and protect water-dependent industrial uses. The State of MA has established 10 designated Port Areas (DPA); Mystic River shown here. These DPAs have particular physical and operational features important for water-dependent industrial uses—such as commercial fishing, shipping, and other vessel-related marine commercial activities—and/or for manufacturing, processing, research, and production activities that require marine transportation or need large volumes of water for withdrawal or discharge. Boundaries created by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM). The subarea boundaries were initially discussed with the community at a public workshop on April 7th using community feedback, current land use, and future development potential. These are a working draft and developed to help facilitate more robust community discussions on the priorities and needs for these areas. The Sea Level Rise - Flood Hazard Areas (SLR-FHA) depicted is based on a modeled 1% annual chance coastal flood event with 40 inches of sea level rise (SLR). The 40 inches of SLR is a combination of the mean sea level rise (3.2 feet above 2013 tide levels) plus 2.5 inches of local land subsidence. The map is derived from the MassDOT-FHWA Boston Harbor Flood Risk Model (BH-FRM) and was prepared by the Woods Hole Group . Data prepared by Woods Hole Group and BPDA, 12/2017.
